The Family That Slays Together...

Here's a little glimpse into our world this past Saturday.

It started out with Noah's buck...

And as if that wasn't enough grossness...

These chickens were scheduled for the freezer.

Good bye.

Thankfully, the next day held no killings.  Only a birthday party.  Happy birthday Jacob!

OK, I think I'm a vegetarian again.

  1. Okay, the title of this post totally captivated my heart. I so love a good family slaying. And I so love turning vegetarian quickly afterwards (for a very short time).

Your family really should live next door to mine.

  2. Did the invention work better than other methods? See, I'm learning from you before we go down this road again.
Between the chicken and the venison, you all are certainly blessed with a full freezer now!

    1. Wellll, sortof. We only plucked seven for roasting. The rest we skinned. (41) I've found that it's much easier to use the chicken from the freezer when it's already cut up into pieces... that way I don't have to mess with thawing the whole chicken. And since I usually cook it in the crock pot and then just take it off the bone, I prefer it to not have skin. Also, we all agree that it's a lot less gross to skin a chicken because it's not wet and, well, if you've ever tried this before you know that the smell is the worst part.

I'm not sure we're gonna keep doing chickens... we're thinking our next thing will be pigs or cows....??
