Busy Little Elves

Hey there crafty ladies!

Yesterday at co-op, some friends were asking me about Christmas craft ideas.  The criteria was that they needed to be easy, fun and CHEAP!  Here's a fun project that works for toddlers to teens, and also makes a nice little gift for grandmas.  : )

Snowflake ornaments:

All you need is sparkly silver or gold pipe cleaners, pliers or old scissors, and a variety of cheap, plastic beads.  Just cut the pipe cleaners into halves or thirds, and twist four short sections together in the middle to form the snowflake shape. Make sure the middle twist is really tight and secure.  You can trim up the ends to make them even, or alternate lengths...however you like.

Now you can get creative putting the beads on.  They just slide right on the pipe cleaners and stay in place thanks to that fluffy, tinsel stuff.  It's nice because you can change beads around easily, until you get the pattern you like.  If you want the end beads to be right at the edge, you can either bend over the end of the pipe cleaner with pliers or slide off the bead, add a little glue and then slide it back in place and let it dry.

Ta- dah!

We hung some on the tree, some on the windows, and used the rest as decorations on gifts.  Yes, we all got pretty carried away!

Can you tell how proud Benjamin is?  He holds his top lip weird when he's beaming proud.

That's what you're going for.  Have some FUN!  And let me know how they turn out....

Happy crafting,
jen

  2. Cool. I just saw lots of sparkly pipe cleaners at Wally World, also shiny white ones...kindof iridescent. That would be pretty.
