Life: Instagrammed

My newest most favorite obsession.... Instagram!

It's a bunch of random little snippets of life that are interesting, for no particular reason.

With a neato filter added on that makes them even more interesting.

You can crop to your heart's content.

And capture the funny things in your life.

 Without having to be profound.

 Or perfect.

The filters bring out the feeling behind the moment.

Making them all warm and cozy...

Or cool and ominous.

It makes bad pictures better.

And good ones better.

And they're all collected in one handy spot for your browsing pleasure.

It's the perfect creative outlet for busy moms and their kids (who constantly hack mom's account).

Because it's so entertaining.

So.... have you tried it yet?
 It's free!
  Look me up (jensnest).

Happy Monday, y'all!

Tip Tuesday: Taking Good Portraits with an Average Camera

Today's tip comes to you from my 17 year old daughter, Graci.  She is a total snapaholic.  She brings a camera everywhere and a good number of the pics on my blog come from her.  She doesn't have a fancy camera, so she spends a lot of time messing around with lighting and shooting angles to see what works best.  And she's gotten pretty darn good with her photography, if I do say so myself.

Today she's gonna show you how to use zoom to take a better portrait.

Old Man Winter's Grand Finale

Yesterday morning we woke up to this beautiful surprise.  Two days ago we were wearing shorts.  Weird stuff.  But I am now free to enjoy winter, since I know that it's on its last leg.

Amazing Sunrise...  this is not photo shopped.

Sukey and Greg

No wonder there's never any birds at the feeder!
This is our second orphan kitty, Sukey.  She thinks she's a panther.  We got her at the 127 yard sale this past summer...  Apparently it's the world's longest yard sale.  I guess people come from all over America to find deals.  All I found was a half-starved kitten and some mucking boots.  That was a deal, right?  Then I stopped in at a hardware store and a guy there named her.   There was a raging debate in our family about whether to name her Sukey, like the guy said, or Lily.  Turns out that Sukey means lily in Hebrew...who knew?

She fits in with our family just fine.  She seems to prefer my favorite chair, especially since I made a new cushion for it.  Figures.
She likes Greg, our first orphan kitty who's all big and manly now.
